A New Year & a fresh new site

January 2, 2022

Well, that's 2021 gone in a flash, excuse the pun, and now to the start of a new, fresh 2022 and with that, a fresh look to the website.
Even with the recent pandemic scares that 2021 bought us, 2021 has flown buy. What an exciting year it has been as well.

2021 kicked off with a Christening over at Castle Caereinion, beautiful weather, lovely church and a great bunch of people.

A few orders for prints requiring mounting and framing, some images to blow up for anniversaries and birthday presents which was great - I love the look and feel of a print in my hands, makes such a difference to seeing these images on the screen all of the time and my customers are always amazed at how well they come out and are keen to get them up on the wall.

Wynnstay Seeds:
It's been a great pleasure to work with Wynnstay Seeds and some great organisational direction from Sian who was also more than happy to allow for some photographic freedom and creativity. Looking forward to more challenges and collaboration over the next few months.

Glamtastic:
It was also a great pleasure to be asked to record Montgomery's own Glam Rock band in the form of Glamtastic. This was a weekend shoot of amazing performances, lighting and music. With the bands efforts to get this on the road over the past few years and held back with health issues as well as a pandemic, there was a bucket full of emotion and love to capture amongst the band in having completely nailed the weekends performance and having the crowd consistently nailed to the dance floor - a wonderful experience to be apart of and record.

Montgomery Remembers:
Every year without fail and thanks to Paul Hodgson meticulous attention to detail, Montgomery gathers to remember those that have fallen in conflicts around the world. I've be there to record this for, I can't remember how long, for the Montgomery Wales Website where a detailed record of Montgomery events surrounding remembrance is stored.
Every year I try and get a half decent shot of the flag bearers which is never easy and mostly due to the weather. This year I manage to catch Julie to ask if she and her husband would pose for a photo while we were up at the Town Hill memorial, Julie was more than happy to so we looked at some quick locations and with all the best efforts in the world, I tried to capture the English and Welsh flags flying in true form - but it was difficult, the wind, light and view were all against me. A quick look on the back of the camera and I thought, oh well, worth a try. Well, the image was linked onto the Montgomery Wales FB page and Julie saw it, had a call to say she loved it, it captured everything and wanted a canvass print. So a canvass print was made and I popped over to see Julie, she opened the box, took one look at the picture and cried - it's beautiful. Julie got her husband to take a look as well, who choked, he said I can't believe what you've done, he went out and brought his mother over, they all hugged and looked at it together..... that was a great feeling and confirmation to never throw an image away, even if you think it's not your best!

So what has 2022 got in store, well it's hard to tell as most assignments come at short notice but booked in so far are a Steam Punk Wedding over at Blists Hill near Telford, a 'Significant' birthday party, commercial photoshoot in York, two weddings in June.

Time permitting, it would would be great to try some some Fine Art Photography following a Pagan theme, or to somehow capture the essence of nature without giving it a Pagan label - more Shinto... I think, I'll see, need a model who is willing to try some arty type of Pagan / Shinto themes..... roll on 2022!
