Church Audio & Visual setup for funeral service

April 28, 2025

Annie from RG Peate called to ask if I would make contact with a family of a young man who had passed away recently to look at creating an audio-visual presentation for his funeral service.

I was more than happy too and contacted Sarah to discuss further. We arranged to meet at the church to see how we could best place AV equipment to fit in with the service. Sarah explained that her brother Rob was a very popular man who passed away before his time due to an awful disease and as such was expecting around 400 people to attend if not more.

Sarah also wanted to have on display a slideshow presentation that would be big enough for everyone to see.

The church looked like it could seat 200 people plus more standing so I suggested that it may be an idea to relay the service for the people gathered outside through a TV screen and PA system which Sarah agreed would be great.

With the service starting at 11am, I arranged to get access for 06:30am to make a start.

With 2 internal PA speakers’ setup plus 2 microphones, one for the vicar and one for the pulpit, the internal audio was done. A 2-metre screen was setup with a small projector set on a tripod stand 2 pews back so that the slideshow covered the 2-metre screen.

At the rear of the church, a PTZ 4k camera was setup on a tripod to capture the service and this was connected to an external monitor situated outside over a video to LAN convertor along with an audio feed to an external 120w PA.

The entrance, slideshow and exit AV was managed by us using a laptop connected to the projector via Windows cast allowing minimal cable runs and the audio was sent over our Zoom field recorder to the various PA’s and monitoring equipment around the church and externally.

It was a privilege to be able to help Sarah out with this, I did not know her brother but he was obviously a very well-liked and respected man.
