Sally Gartell - St Chad's Church

Sally Gartell at St Chad's

Hey Adam, say’s Sally, would be great to do another photoshoot with the senior girls, a bit like we did last time at Gregynog Hall. Elsie will be leaving us and it would be fantastic if we could create a little photoshoot memory for her, any ideas?

Nope, none I reply, I’m out of ideas off the cuff, awwwww, you’ll think of something - so we arrange to meet for a drink and chat to go through some dance and venue options. We have lots of ideas but struggle to come up with a venue that would be ….a bit different…. Then a light bulb moment hit me! How would you feel about a shoot in a church Sally? A church she replies! Not just any church, but St Chads in Shrewsbury, it’s like a smaller version of the Albert Hall. Well, okay Sally replies. I can’t promise anything I say, I need to have a chat with them to see if it’s at all possible, it may not, we need a plan B just in case!

I contact St Chads and get a reply from the warden the same day – yes that would be fine. We discuss some of the finer detail, but in essence, all is looking good.

I’ve done some video live streaming work there in the past and have got to know the warden well through working together on various projects, this would be a special favour and we’d need to respect the fact that the church would still be open to the public and take care to treat the church with respect, which I knew would not be a problem as Sally’s senior students are very well behaved.

A date is arranged and we finally meet at St Chads for an amazing photoshoot.

Our thanks and gratitude go out to all at St Chad’s for accommodating us, in particular our church warden who stayed with us to make sure we had everything we needed. We had a wonderful time there and really appreciate the unique opportunity this provided for Sally and her students who also loved working in such a beautiful location.
