Criw CelfIt was great to get involved with Criw Celf back in July last year at the invitation of Kate from the Oriel Davies Galley in Newtown. Kate was looking for photography and videography coverage over a weekend of arts and craft activities that would involve basketry and textile workshops and a mock joust with hobby horses made by the participants at the beautiful location of Gregynog Hall. After a few email exchanges, site visits for risk assessments, permissions gained for Drone work and f.....

Shrewsbury Repair Cafe Shrewsbury Repair CaféA stich in time, saves nine - spent a lovely Saturday morning with the Shrewsbury Repair Café volunteers at the invite of Pete Martin. Pete wanted to get some photos for the repair café’s website, the assignment, to capture the atmosphere of people working together and having fun at fixing things. Soldering irons up to temperature and thumb thimbles in place, white board and front of house triage raring to go as the local community come to the Sh.....

Studio Photoshoot They say….. children and animals are best left alone in the photography world and to be fair, you would be forgiven for agreeing but in this case, it was a blast – such cuties. Once everyone had got use to the strange guy with the camera in his hand and – what must have appeared to be gigantic studio lights to the little ones, (They are actually small as far as studio lights go – but very portable), we had a blast. Big shout out to Sally for organising and arranging her.....
Happy New Year

Happy New Year all – it’s been great having a few days to catch up with family and finish off those odd jobs that needed doing but always put on the back burner due to higher priority work.Another group photo for WTC to match, frame & mount for a collection of images set on a wall of fame at the Welshpool Town Hall.Working to the councils’ criteria to ensure a matching wall of frames and images started way back before G17’s commission. There have been some struggles getting identical fram ......
Wynnstay shoot
December 10, 2022 8:30 PM Blog
Another great morning spent over at Wynnstay and this time being videoed as I take pictures which is something I’ve always wanted to do to show the photography process but never really had chance. Working with the Marketing manager, Sian, made the whole process a walk in the park and despite the freezing conditions outside, the key staff members were very willing and accommodating. CEO Gareth was very approachable and enthusiastic to get the images that Sian needed for her library and inclusio ......
Welshpool Town Council
November 30, 2022 8:11 PM Blog
A real pleasure to be invited back to Welshpool Town Council to capture the councillors at their best for this photoshoot. Assignment was to photograph 15 councillor head shots and one group photo in the chamber that will become part of their wall of fame gallery display - oh, and you've got half an hour to do it because the councillors will be starting their meeting at 18:30! As the headshots are for a website, that was not too bad, 3 different compositions to suit the webmasters ......
Montgomery Remembrance Day
November 16, 2022 7:33 PM Blog
‘Hello Adam’ said one of the teachers as the children arrive at the Garden of Remembrance in Montgomery, ‘has it been a year since I last saw you here’ – goodness me, it had and how quickly those months have flown by. It is always a lovely sight to see the children take part in the Montgomery Remembrance service, it is obvious how heartfelt they all feel about this particular event where the children come to lay into the ground the remembrance crosses with the names of the men who had ......
Illyria Theatre - A Midsummer Night’s Dream
August 18, 2022 8:58 AM Blog
The last time I was up at the castle I nearly passed out from the heat, that was last week, now I have a coat on and umbrella in case I need to stop rain getting into my camera! Another spectacular show from those at Illyria, full of energy and great timing and good use of stage props. I have to admit, I do tend to lose track of the full plot as the night draws on and the available light becomes more of a challenge, concentrating through the lens to try and capture those action moments, I e ......
Montgomery Castle Ballet Photo Shoot
August 11, 2022 3:11 PM Blog
Had an absolutely amazing time with Sally Gartell and her dancers up at Montgomery Castle this week. All the dancers were so obliging and really did not mind standing in the heat; not only from the sun but also on the ground as well! With a pre-planned sketch of where I could best use the Castle architecture, leading lines, flows and open spaces for the shoot and working with Sally to get the best from the dancers, we set up positions and pose to draw the best from the costum ......

Well, what a busy Saturday that turned out to be. Official photographer for the Montgomery Street Fair, taking to the stage with Monty Folk Band and a Wedding Shoot in the Town Hall – all in a day’s work :D Obviously, the highlight of the day was shooting Sarah Gores wedding in the beautiful Georgian Town Hall that stands proudly in Broad Street. Beautifully decorated by those folks at Montgomery Weddings, the upper floor looked amazing, fresh, airy and atmospheric. Sara and Sam looked amazi ......
Mike & Mel's Handfasting
June 17, 2022 8:12 PM Blog
What a wonderful opportunity - to be invited to a Steampunk wedding and all the more interesting, a handfasting one at that. I feel a bit embarrassed to admit that I had actually never heard of handfasting and when Mike told me about this ceremony, I had to find out more. There are various tales on its origins but mostly it seems to stem from a Celtic / Pagan tradition popular in Scotland and Ireland and indeed Wales. One of a traditional betrothal for a year and a day after which the coupl ......
The Day Of The Dead!

A very kind invitation from Tony Hughes for a special birthday bash as hired photographer to capture this special occasion. So amazed at the detail and work that went into this party, not only for the costumes and makeup, but also the effort put into the tiny details to make everything look and feel like a party of the Day Of The Dead!

Commercial Photography
May 6, 2022 10:07 PM Blog
This is not so much a blog, more of an Ad.....Our commercial offering is quick and easy where time can sometimes be limited. A typical staff headshot shoot only only takes half an hour to set up a mini studio and less time for manager / director shoots posed either in the office or out in the field which can be done in around 10 mins. Working to very tight timescales is the norm for G17 and we fully understand the need to take up minimum time where key people are required elsewhere on the day.Wh ......
Shenanigans at Montgomery Town Hall

It’s great that all of these community events are getting back together and the joy of seeing people meeting up once again and it was great to be asked back to photograph Tony Hughes and his band plus a few others playing at Montgomery Town Hall. Challenging lighting, and lots of groovy movement and a laugh a minute dance craze from the floor made for a very enjoyable photo shoot.

Had a wonderful time with the amazing calendar girls aka Chirbury W.I. We talked about everything photography, having fun with photography, using light from desk lamps, torches and window light to get the best affect for taking portrait photos, we looked at how to get rid of shadows using white card or paper and covered off how to see a photo in everyday objects from sunlight on brick walls to street photography. Thanks so much to Kerry Baskerville for stepping in as our volunteer model, I think ......

Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, haematology, that’s a cat, that’s a dog Adam, you can’t just turn them off and back on again - I never thought I’d be involved in those conversations while designing a website, photographing and prototyping. It’s been a really amazing few months working with those amazing staff at Trefaldwyn Vets in Montgomery. It is one big family there and I’ve been welcomed with open arms, maybe it’s because I’ve fixed all of their stuff or it’s my c ......
