Studio Photoshoot They say….. children and animals are best left alone in the photography world and to be fair, you would be forgiven for agreeing but in this case, it was a blast – such cuties. Once everyone had got use to the strange guy with the camera in his hand and – what must have appeared to be gigantic studio lights to the little ones, (They are actually small as far as studio lights go – but very portable), we had a blast. Another great morning spent over at Wynnstay and this time being videoed as I take pictures which is something I’ve always wanted to do to show the photography process but never really had chance. Working with the Marketing manager, Sian, made the whole process a walk in the park and despite the freezing conditions outside, the key staff members were very willing and accommodating. A real pleasure to be invited back to Welshpool Town Council to capture the councillors at their best for this photoshoot. Assignment was to photograph 15 councillor head shots and one group photo in the chamber that will become part of their wall of fame gallery display - oh, and you've got half an hour to do it because the councillors will be starting their meeting at 18:30! As the headshots are for a website, that was not too bad, 3 different compositions to suit the webmasters ......

The last time I was up at the castle I nearly passed out from the heat, that was last week, now I have a coat on and umbrella in case I need to stop rain getting into my camera! Had an absolutely amazing time with Sally Gartell and her dancers up at Montgomery Castle this week. All the dancers were so obliging and really did not mind standing in the heat; not only from the sun but also on the ground as well! With a pre-planned sketch of where I could best use the Castle architecture, leading lines, flows and open spaces for the shoot and working with Sally to get the best from the dancers, we set up positions and pose to draw the best from the costum ......

Well, what a busy Saturday that turned out to be. Official photographer for the Montgomery Street Fair, taking to the stage with Monty Folk Band and a Wedding Shoot in the Town Hall – all in a day’s work :D Obviously, the highlight of the day was shooting Sarah Gores wedding in the beautiful Georgian Town Hall that stands proudly in Broad Street. What a wonderful opportunity - to be invited to a Steampunk wedding and all the more interesting, a handfasting one at that. I feel a bit embarrassed to admit that I had actually never heard of handfasting and when Mike told me about this ceremony, I had to find out more. This is not so much a blog, more of an Ad.....Our commercial offering is quick and easy where time can sometimes be limited. A typical staff headshot shoot only only takes half an hour to set up a mini studio and less time for manager / director shoots posed either in the office or out in the field which can be done in around 10 mins. Working to very tight timescales is the norm for G17 and we fully understand the need to take up minimum time where key people are required elsewhere on the day.Wh ......

It’s great that all of these community events are getting back together and the joy of seeing people meeting up once again and it was great to be asked back to photograph Tony Hughes and his band plus a few others playing at Montgomery Town Hall. Challenging lighting, and lots of groovy movement and a laugh a minute dance craze from the floor made for a very enjoyable photo shoot.

Had a wonderful time with the amazing calendar girls aka Chirbury W.I. We talked about everything photography, having fun with photography, using light from desk lamps, torches and window light to get the best affect for taking portrait photos, we looked at how to get rid of shadows using white card or paper and covered off how to see a photo in everyday objects from sunlight on brick walls to street photography.
